Huntsville 2010

Back in May, we took a family vacation to Huntsville. And when I say family, I mean all of us in one house ~ the 5 of us plus uncle Brandon, Grandma Carol and Papa B all drove down to stay with Angela and family for almost a week. Mom and Dad drove down during the day again and the 6 of us (including uncle Brandon) drove down over night. The boys did great concidering they slept through most of it (which is what we had hoped for).

The boys loved staying at Sydney and Halas's house! There were so many new toys and new rooms to explore... not to mention the huge bath tub! You can't tell in this picture, but Sydney's in the tub too!
Up in the game room, uncle Brandon set up a cool track for the motorized cars. The kids also liked to jump and play on the inflatable air mattress.

On Monday, we went to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. The boys were excited to see the astronaut suits and big rockets. They even got to see their first big screen movie - 3D even. They were showing Fly Me To The Moon - one of their favorite movies to watch at Grandma's house. They weren't excited about keeping the big glasses on. It would have been nice if they had smaller sizes, but all they had were adult sizes. In general, they did pretty good during the movie. Granted, no one else was in the theater, so some "musical chairs" was fine (I want to sit with grandma. now i want to sit with grandpa...). But probably the most awesome part of the whole visit that day ~ DARTH VADER AND STORM TROOPERS!!! The museum was preparing for a big Star Wars exhibit in June and the day we were there, some publicity photos were being shot. While the camera crews set up, Vader and his Troopers were just waiting around. The boys and Sydney all got to give a trooper and/or Vader high fives! They were talking about that for a long time... well, actually, someone just mentioned it last week (almost 3 months later!).

Back at the house, we pulled out the pool and all the kids enjoyed some water time! It was a big inflatable pool out on the 2nd floor balcony. Nice way to contain them for a while and tucker them out too!

The next day things got a little scary. Logan woke up and was super lathargic. We could barely even get him interested in eating a donut - and that's just not normal! Okay, so seriously, he barely had any energy to move and couldn't keep anything down. We ended up taking him to the "urgent" care to see a doctor. Let's just say they weren't very "urgent" and not very helpful either. We finally got some anti-nausea medicine in him and he was able to keep down a few drinks of water (yep, even water wasn't staying down for a while). Later that night, he was back to normal and you would have never known he was sick!

And then the other two got sick. Not as bad as Logan had been, but for the next few days, at least one boy was sick at all times. Mainly just fevers and tired, but enough that we didn't take any other trips around Huntsville. With a few exceptions ~ we still had girls day out where we got pedicures and lunch. We also had an adult night out to dinner and a movie while the most awesomest grandparents watched all 5 grandkids!

They had tons of fun playing outside. They had snacks in the "club house" on the playset. They also got to "climb" the mountain and play on the rocks in the back yard. They used random sticks in the yard and turned them into walking sticks - just like Papa B's!

I love this one of Logan and Halas walking up the yard!

Thanks again to my wonderful sister for putting up with us all week (sick kids and all) and letting us hang out with her fabulous kids! I've added a few pictures throughout this post, but there are more in a slideshow below.
