Random Stories: Take the F***ing Pacifier!

This is the first in a series of random stories that don’t really fit anywhere else, but that we think are cute to tell and that we might want to record for the boys as they get older.

It was an evening feeding a month or two after we brought the boys home; probably around 9 pm after a full day for both Tiffany and I. We were both still pretty sleep deprived. One of the boys was crying and Tiff asked me to fetch a pacifier. I grabbed it and started waving it in her face. She cocks her head gives me a kind of confused look. So I more emphatically gesture with the pacifier towards her mouth. “What are you doing,” she asks. By this time I’m getting really mad because Tiffany hasn’t put the pacifier in her mouth.

Then it dawns on me that I’m trying to give Tiffany the pacifier instead of the crying baby.

Easter Weekend

Hey there! Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. We spent the weekend traveling (which has become a feat in itself) and visiting with family. Saturday I took the boys down to Decatur. We got to play with Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Brandon. Vickie and Chloe also came over to see the boys. We left shortly after dinner so Grandma and Grandpa could get ready for church. They are in the bell choir and were scheduled to play at the Easter vigil mass. I didn't figure the boys were up for 2+ hours of church quite yet!
Sunday, we took the boys up to Minonk for dinner and played with the Benningtons. We got our first chance to play with Cody (the dog). I think Cody was a little jealous. He's used to getting all the attention! The boys just thought he was funny... or ignored him altogether. It'll be a different story once they start walking and chasing him around! It was very tiring, but we all had a nice weekend.

More Firsts!

Nick - I know I'm awesome!

Nick rolled over for the first time tonight from his tummy to his back! He did it twice in a row while I was watching. He did get a little shy once Adam came down. We still haven't seen him roll from his back to tummy since we posted about him and Alex a week or so ago. Dawn hasn't seen Nick do it again either, but Alex loves to roll over and does it all the time. He hasn't quite figured out how to get back, but he's getting close.

Logan - chillin' but not rollin'

Alex - falling asleep playing with the bear

Activity Centers

We finally got out all 3 activity centers for the boys to play with. (Thanks Dawn and Brandon for help building them!) I tried to get a picture of all 3 last night, but as you can guess from the tone of our last post, pictures didn't turn out well either. Tonight was much better. Adam helped me get their attention and I got some good pics of them all looking and smiling. That, however, is not the picture I'm posting. I thought this one was even better. You can only imagine what Adam was doing to get their attention!!!

What is that sound dad is making?!

Perfect Cure for a Case of the Mondays!

It seems all 5 of us had a "case of the Mondays" today. A bit of family time is just what we needed. We all went out to dinner (our first time out to a restaurant with just the two of us and the boys). The boys did great! Then back at home, we all played and sang and danced. Much better... Thanks boys!
P.S. This picture was from last week when it was so nice outside - unlike the rainy cold day it was today. But still thought the looks were appropriate.

First Wedding

This weekend we took the boys to their first wedding! My Grandpa Brandy married Ruth in Decatur at St. Pat's. It was a very nice ceremony with mainly just family - which is still a good size crowd! The boys did pretty well during the ceremony and only fussed a little bit which was good since it was right around feeding time.

Speaking of family... Adam and I were sitting around the other night feeding the babies and realized... Everyone says Alex and Logan look more like Adam (or the Bennington side) and Nick looks more like me (or the Williams side). Oddly enough, both Alex and Logan's middle names are from the Bennington family and Nick's is from the Williams family. We found it interesting (although that doesn't always take much)!

Finally... Email Notifications!

Thanks to some help from our friends Shannon and Mike, I have finally added a new feature to the blog to make it easier to keep up with any new posts. You can now receive email notifications whenever a new post is made to the blog. On the right hand side of the screen is an area to enter your email address. Simply fill in your email address and click "subscribe". You'll then receive an email from Google Groups asking you to verify your email address. Once that's complete you'll start receiving an email each time there is something new on the blog.

Thanks Mike for all the help setting this up!

They're a rollin'!!

Big news in the Bennington house yesterday... Both Alex and Nick rolled over for the first time!!! Below is a video of Alex rolling. Both of them rolled while Dawn was out of the room (of course) but they did it more than once, so it wasn't just a fluke. They're rolling from their backs to their tummies. Once they're on their tummies, they have no desire to go back over... but they aren't happy for long with tummy time.

The funniest part about all of this... When Adam and I got home from work, we were very excited to watch Alex roll (Nick didn't seem as interested in doing it again). We put him down on the blanket and started to wait/watch. We decided to check out the video while we were waiting. Dawn took a lot of video because you never know when he's going to finally roll over. We spent probably 5-10 minutes watching the video, just waiting for him to finally roll over. We were so focused on the video, we figured he'd probably roll over in front of us and we'd miss it because we were watching the camera! Finally, we stopped the video and watched and he rolled! Of course, he seems to throw up every time he rolls - too much crunching on his abs.
